Pre-treatment Equipment
Bowker Machinery manufacture, supply, install and
train in the use of pre-treatment equipment for the
powder coating industry. Our phosphating equipment
is suitable for the pre-treatment of aluminium and
steel. Pre-treatment is necessary before steel or
aluminium is coated with powder.
The invention, introduction and steady development
of our "Auto-Wash" machine over the last
five years has, we believe, been one of the most important
innovations in the powder coating industry world wide
in recent years.
The basic concept that we attempted was to replicate
the actions of a conveyorised in-line pre-treatment
plant, but allow large and difficult shaped items
to be treated, to carry out all the different processes
within one chamber. Thereby the components are washed,
phosphated, rinsed with clean water and dried ready
for immediate powder coating.
The interior size of the washing chamber is up to
1.5 metres high, 1.5 metres high and in lengths of
between 3 metres and 7 metres.
The surface treatment of aluminium can lead to very
large productions gains over alternate methods such
as immersion tanks or wet spraying. Various chemical
suppliers have achieved spray test results of 1,000
hours and more after test samples were treated in
our machines. Test results are available for our customers
to see for themselves.
The cleaning is achieved by employing rotating spinner
arms with the action being not unlike a domestic dishwasher.
Due to many design improvements the washing cycle
time is now much quicker with a total cycle time of
15 to 20 minutes not uncommon.
The process is fully automated and utilises an on-board
Siemens computer. Timing and heating levels are easily
adjusted via a keyboard control.
